Chicago, IL — Get in the Zone. Zahery Zone.
Welcome to The Zahery Zone! In this blog, I’m going to explain what if feels like to be a life-long disappointed Bulls Fan.
The Chicago Bulls front office have outdone themselves once again. They recently announced that they have given the interim head coach, Jim Boylen, a contract extension through 2020 — he received this extension shortly after the Bulls 7th straight loss.
Let’s take a look at how Jimmy has done thus far being the Bulls Head Coach since they fired Fred Hoiberg on December 3rd:
- 5-13 record
- 97.5 PPG (29th)
- 100.6 offensive rating (30th)
- 111.5 defensive rating (24th)
- 15.8 Turnover % (28th)
- 1 players-only meeting
Some nerds on Twitter are saying that Boylen should be paid like an NBA Head Coach, not like an assistant, but so far, has this guy proven or given any reason that he is qualified to coach a professional team? Some people are better assistants than they are head coaches — in my opinion, Jim Boylen falls in that category.
Additionally, Gar Forman and John Paxson never cease to amaze me. It’s honestly incredible how these two still have jobs. Does anyone know how I can apply to get a job with the Bulls front office? As long as Jerry Reinsdorf is signing the checks, you have a job for eternity.
Question — Who has more job security: A seat on the United States Supreme Court or a job with the Chicago Bulls Front Office? My sources are telling me that this question, in fact, is still up for debate.
In hindsight, this team is dogshit from top to bottom. Not much more I can really say. However, the Zahery Zone always tries to find the positive given the situation, so here are some bright spots to look forward to in the future:
**Per Game Stats**
- Zach LaVine – 23.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists
- Lauri Markkanen -16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.1assists **Only has played in 19 games**
- Wendell Carter Jr. (Rookie) – 10.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks
The Bulls do have a solid core of young players that could blossom into a decent team – especially with the possibility of landing a top free agent in the offseason (queue the Anthony Davis ‘Coming Home’ videos). But because the Bulls are a disgrace this season, the only thing fans can really look forward to is the 2019 NBA Draft.
Per the new NBA Draft rules, the teams with the 3 worst records in the NBA at the end of the season will have the same odds to land the #1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft — the Bulls are currently 1 of those 3 teams.
As of right now, the Bulls are currently in the top 3, just trailing the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers by 1 game for the worst record in the NBA.
Bulls To Do List: trade Robin Lopez, figure out the Jabari Parker situation and PLAY THE YOUNG GUYS. And please, for the love of God, tank, just tank, and tank as hard as possible the remainder of this season so we can see Zion Williamson in Bulls red.
All in all, it’s very difficult and infuriating being a Bulls fan — I’ve experienced too much disappointment from this team in my lifetime to still see these two shitheads run this organization straight into the ground. Burn this ship. #FireGarPax #FireBoylen and clean house, because as long as they are operating this organization, the Chicago Bulls will continue to be the laughing stock, dumpster fire of the NBA that they currently are.
And as the great Kenny Loggins always says…HIGHWAYYYY TO THE ZAHERY ZONEEEE
